Dongguan is one of the prefecture level cities in Guangdong Province and the central city on the east bank of the Pearl River Delta in China approved by the State Council. As of August 2020, Dongguan has 4 streets and 28 towns under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 2465 square kilometers, a permanent population of 8.3922 million, an urban population of 7.6386 million, an urbanization rate of 91.02%, and a permanent migrant population of 4.1586 million, making it one of the four prefecture level cities without districts in China.
