1. UK VAT mandatory MTD, implemented from November 1st

Recently, the British HMRC announced that it will officially close the existing online VAT declaration portal by the end of October this year. And updated with new requirements on MTD: From 1 November 2022, all VAT registered businesses will not be able to use their existing VAT online accounts to file monthly or quarterly VAT returns. Sellers need to register for VAT Digitisation (MTD) and use compatible software to keep sellers’ VAT records and file VAT returns.

2. eBay UK announces button battery standard

eBay UK recently issued a reminder that sellers selling button and coin batteries on its platform must comply with UK button and coin battery safety requirements. Button and coin cells are primarily used to power everyday consumer and household products such as watches, car key fobs, remote controls and children's toys. Due to their small size, such products can easily be swallowed by young children and cause health problems or death. If a seller is selling a product that contains button or coin cells, please review PAS 7055, the UK specification for safety requirements for button and coin cells, to ensure products meet safety standards before they hit the shelves.
